My initial view of the printer is good and I’m impressed with the quality of the prints coming out so far. I had intended doing a lot of printing today but woke up this morning feeling poorly and cold so I’ve picked up a bug from somewhere so did a lot of self comforting today! I have say that I’m excited that I have been asked to trial this new printer as it’s very stylish and a different make for me as I’ve been a devoted Epson user for years. I’ll keep you posted and pictures as well if I manage to.

I’ve been busy making up Christmas cards and meeting all my orders for cards and putting the printer through it’s paces and until today have had no complaints. Today I decided to finish the special cards for my daughters that I had already printed out on my Epson printer before getting the Ricoh Printer. I wanted to take advantage of being able to print out on heavier card for the outer card but the colour has come out different and I’m not sure if its because of it being a different printer or if I haven’t got the colour settings correct. Time will tell, but for the moment I reprinted all the sheets. I need to crack on as daughter No 1 is already on her way up from South Wales as I type.

I’ve been printing again this morning and got to say that despite setting the printer to best quality print I’m a bit disappointed with the depth of colour in the print outs. Compared with the same print done on the Epson it looks very washed out. The very first print I did when I first got the printer was very good so I’m confused. I think the next thing will be to set it back to factory settings or speak to Mike.

I’m also not sure that I’m putting my comments in the correct place as well. 🙁

I now feel frustrated as the printer is not picking up the paper every time and it’s only 220gsm . I keep having to undo the paper-jam slot at the back and that is difficult ’cause you need to use two hands preferably and as I have to pull the printer forward on the computer desk that is not easy.
I’m also very disappointed with the colour quality. I print files that I have previously purchased from a craft site for the last 4yrs and if I had not used Epson previously I don’t know that I’d have noticed a problem. Unfortunately using the same photo paper there is no comparison, the print from the RICOH is dull whereas the printing from the Epson is bright and vibrant.
Unfortunately I think the printer will have to be returned. It’s a shame as I had high hopes for it and I think it would be far more economical on ink usage. 🙁 🙁
